A boy is fighting for his life after he was washed off the rocks on the Gold Coast.

It’s understood the 16-year-old fell and hit his head at Snapper Rocks on Wednesday afternoon.

Lifesavers pulled him lifeless from the water.

They performed CPR on him before paramedics arrived to help with resuscitation efforts.

“They were able to get him back,” said Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman Adam Flory.

“Through their resuscitation efforts, they were able to restart his heart.

“When that occurs, the patient starts to breathe on their own.”

The boy was then rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

More to come.
